With Edition 3 'Duero Discovery', you'll discover the influence of an excellent quality wine cask on our Arran Single Malt.
The red wine casks used in this bottling were previously used to mature wine from the wine-producing region along the Duero River, in northern Spain, before they arrived with us in Lochranza. We initially matured this Arran Single Malt in Bourbon Barrels for 6 years, before transferring the whisky into the red wine casks for a further 6 years of maturation.
Like ourselves at Lochranza Distillery, the supplier of these red wine casks place the utmost importance on working with the best quality materials. The resulting whisky is both exciting and inspiring - a rich, ruby amber with a bright nose of caramelised fruit and hazelnuts. The palate is full-bodied with a complex mouthfeel, oak forward with dark red berries and creamy vanilla. Finally, a long, mouthwatering finish of vanilla and toasted oak with a delightful sweet candy.
