From Master of Malt:
When word reached Master of Malt Towers that Diageo's 2017 Special Releases would include a Teaninich expression, we were near-aghast with anticipation. Official Teaninich bottlings just don't exist (outside of that one Flora and Fauna bottling), which is a crying shame as the independent efforts are quite sublime. This one doesn't disappoint: the 17 year old liquid is from refill American oak hogsheads and sherry butts, both filled in 1999, and the resulting candied sweet spice is a delight. Fun fact: the Teaninich distillery uses an unusual mash filter press instead of a mash tun in production.
Nose: Vanilla, barley and pleasant waxy character. A little water reveals citrus zest (and orange jelly), melba toast and melon notes.
Palate: More floral with orchard fruit, some stalky notes and lemon tea. Fizzy apple sweets too.
Finish: Fresh peach skin and gentle oak.
